The Berserk Manga
43 volumes published from 1989 to today

Kentaro Miura's Berserk manga is one of the most important and influential works in the medium. Serialized since 1989 in Young Animal magazine (Hakusensha), it depicts a dark medieval world where the fate of man is ruled by a mysterious transcendental force — and the story of a man who refuses to submit to it.
The manga stands out for the exceptional quality of its artwork — among the most detailed in all of manga history — and for the depth of its storytelling. Each volume represents weeks of relentless work, panels with a density close to medieval engraving, and characters whose complexity far surpasses most works of the genre.
Published in France by Glénat, Berserk spans 43 volumes. Volume 40 is the last to be fully released during Miura's lifetime; since 2022, the series has continued thanks to Studio Gaga under the supervision of Kouji Mori — volumes 41, 42 and 43 are available, and volume 44 is announced for 2027 in Japan.
